Welcome to Dosbarth Glas everyone!

About Us

We are a class of six happy pupils and two very happy members of staff; Mrs Griffiths and Mrs Alford.

Resources

We have resources for the children so they will not need to bring a pencil case. The children are welcome to bring a water bottle to access throughout the day. Cups are also provided and washed daily. Pupils will need a coat as our outdoor area is accessed daily.

Class Work

This term our topic is 'How do we celebrate?’

At the beginning of the Autumn Term, Dosbarth Glas will develop shared class rules and understand clear consequences. Pupils will spend the term immersing themselves in different cultural festivals from around the world. Pupils will understand how different beliefs and cultures are represented within the festivals and gather knowledge about the stories that have inspired the celebrations. Each class will contrast at least one festival with Christmas as Christianity is the main religion in our locality. With each festival, pupils will gain opportunities to develop their expressive arts skills by exploring the music and dance from different cultures as well as acting out the festival stories. Writing skills will be developed as pupils learn to write poems and information texts in response to their new knowledge about the world. All pupils within the school will retell the Christmas story and pupils in Dosbarth Glas will retell with particular emphasis on sequencing the story in the correct order, focusing on capital letters and full stops.

Certain festivals will also be a hook for particular science investigations, continuing to foster curiosity in the pupils of Penrhys.
